Dorjee Palden wins Tibetan Entrepreneur Award 2013

Bylakuppe 21 August:  Mr Dorjee Palden of Mundgod Doeguling Tibetan settlements received Tibetan Entrepreneur Award for the year 2013 from Kalon Trisur Kyabje Samdhong Rinpoche during inaugural function of 13th Annual Conference of Tibetan co-operatives at Lugsam’s co-operative community hall.

Mr Dorjee Palden runs Scrap business in Mundgod Tibetan settlement. This company is engaged in collection and sale of saleable waste like bottle, plastic, paper and other waste products in the settlement. By running Scrap business profitably, he has proved to the settlement people the benefit of storing and selling waste.

Today many people in the settlement have started to store waste for sale. His activity has contributed largely for maintenance of cleanliness in the settlement.

He started Scrap business in 2010 and presently he employs 5 staff. The annual turnover of scrap is Rs 3.62 lakhs.

He received an award certificate, shield and cheque of Rs 25,000/- from Kalon Trisur Samdhong Rinpoche. After receiving the award he said, “Today I fulfilled my wish. I am so happy to receive this award from Kyabje Samdhong Rinpoche”. He also said Mudgod Tibetan Co-operative has been back bone and very supportive of my initiative.
